In an effort to reduce some of the toxic chemicals and preservatives in my household, I've been searching and experimenting with some new recipes to make body products. Here is one of my favorites so far:
Lotion Bars
This is such a simple recipe and works as a great moisturizer! You can certainly customize the recipe by choosing your favorite oils to use.
The key is to choose one liquid oil and one solid. I chose almond oil and coconut oil to mix with bees wax.
Start the process by melting 1/5 lb bees wax in a double boiler (1/2 cup melted). Then add 1/2 cup coconut oil until melted, and 1/2 cup almond oil and still together until blended. This will have a honey smell from the bees wax and if you choose to add some essential oils, now is the time to add them in. I added 10-15 drops of orange essential oil.
Remove the top pan and dry off the bottom so the water doesn't get into the mixture when pouring.
Pour into ungreased mini cupcake pan.
This recipe makes 12 full mini cupcake sized bars. Let sit overnight. Turn pan over and twist to pop out the lotion bars.
Just place one in your hand and rub. Your body heat will start to melt it. Keep extras in a ziplock bag in the fridge until your ready to use them. I love to give these out as little gifts! If you need a variety of scents/essential oils we sell small vials of the essential oils you choose for only $2.00 each.
